Shockwave therapy, also known as extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT), is a non-invasive treatment that uses sound waves to promote healing in damaged tissues. The treatment involves delivering low-energy sound waves to the injured area, which is believed to stimulate blood flow, cell regeneration, and reduce pain.

Shockwave therapy can be used for both acute and chronic injuries and is especially beneficial for conditions such as shoulder tendinitis, elbow tendinitis, plantar fasciitis and achilles tendinopathy. NICE guidelines recommend a minimum of 3-6 treatment sessions to optimise results.

Our clinic has seen exceptional results with the use of shockwave therapy, many clients with conditions they have suffered with for many years and now pain free. So why not try our shockwave treatment today.

Massage therapy involves targeted manual techniques to relieve muscle tension, improve circulation, and promote relaxation and recovery. Whether you’re managing chronic pain, recovering from injury, or simply looking to reduce stress, massage can play a vital role in your overall health and well-being. It can also support the body’s natural healing processes.

The types of massage we offer are:
- Sports Massage – Similar to deep tissue, ideal for injury prevention and recovery in active individuals and athletes. Focuses on specific muscle groups under repetitive stress.

- Swedish (Relaxation) Massage – Lighter massage that supports stress relief, muscle recovery, and overall well-being—especially beneficial during long rehabilitation processes

- Cupping Massage - Involves combining traditional massage with suction created by special cups placed on the skin. This creates a vacuum effect and can be glided over the skin to increase the effects. The benefits of this are increased blood flow to targeted areas, improved lymphatic drainage and detoxification and breaking down adhesions (knots) to improve tissue mobility.

Acupuncture, also known as medical acupuncture or dry needling, is a therapeutic approach that uses acupuncture needles, guided by Western medical knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology.

It focuses on stimulating nerves and muscles to relieve pain and promote natural healing processes, often by releasing endorphins and other pain-relieving substances.

Acupuncture also works via the meridians/channels of the body to maintain Qi (Chee). Imbalances in Qi can cause many illness and injuries to persist. Acupuncture works to balance this and enable return to function.

Acupuncture at our clinic is administered by qualified physiotherapists who have undergone extensive training with the acupuncture association of chartered physiotherapists. All our clinicians are insured and have registration with the charted society of physiotherapy.

Clinical Director & Founder

Michelle is the Founder and Clinical Director of Pro-Form Physio, with 13 years’ experience as a physiotherapist, including over 10 years specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy and has built a broad and highly respected clinical skillset across both NHS and private practice.

She began her career within the NHS, working across large Trusts and alongside orthopaedic consultants, GP doctors and advanced physiotherapy services. Through these roles, Michelle gained extensive experience in complex case management, advanced assessment, and onward referral pathways. This includes imaging interpretation, detailed medical history screening, and referral for injections, specialist investigations and surgical opinion where appropriate.

Clinical Experience and Specialisms

Michelle has a wide breadth of clinical expertise and advanced training, including:

  • Shockwave therapy

  • Manual therapy techniques including massage, acupuncture, joint mobilisations, articulations, assisted stretches and manipulations.

  • Advanced musculoskeletal assessment and diagnosis including force plate analysis.

  • Exercise-based rehabilitation and return-to-function planning.

She has particular clinical experience treating neck and shoulder conditions, as well as lower limb injuries, and is known for her thorough, analytical approach to complex and persistent presentations.

Alongside her physiotherapy background, Michelle is a qualified personal trainer with a strong personal interest in gym-based training and fitness. This allows her to deliver highly individualised exercise programmes, carefully tailored to each client’s ability, goals and lifestyle - whether returning to sport, work or everyday activity.

Approach to Care & Clinical Philosophy

Michelle places strong emphasis on education and empowerment, ensuring clients fully understand their condition, treatment options and recovery pathway. She is deeply committed to guiding clients through their entire rehabilitation journey, often spending additional time discussing wider treatment planning - including what to do if physiotherapy alone is not sufficient.

She is known for providing ongoing support beyond appointments, remaining accessible via email and the clinic WhatsApp line wherever possible. This includes clear guidance on when further medical assessment is required. Most recently Michelle advised a client presenting with severe shin pain to attend urgent care due to concern for a stress fracture - imaging later confirmed multiple tibial stress fractures, allowing timely referral back to orthopaedics. This level of proactive, patient-centred care reflects the standard she strives to provide for every client.

Michelle is passionate about creating a safe, supportive and nurturing environment, recognising the strong link between psychological wellbeing and physical recovery. She regularly supports clients not only with injury rehabilitation, but also with confidence, reassurance and long-term health education to help clients move forward both physically and mentally.
